I wrote earlier about the  Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Shiraz. A few weeks ago I found another excellent red wine in the same price range. Baron De Ley Rioja Reserva 2003 is also about 15 € here in Finland. Definitely worth a taste!

The wine shows a range of ripe, tart cherry and red berry aromas, with spice and toasted notes, which develop into ripe fruit. In the mouth, the attack is powerful and develops good structure, well integrated with soft, rich tannins, balanced acidity and warmth. The wine has an elegant, fresh and round character, with toasty traces in the aftertaste and a lingering fresh finish.

Most of you people know Nokia phones, but chances that you have tasted some of the Nokia products above are very small. The Nokia beer and cider are products from a small finnish brewery called Nokian Panimo.

Nokia beer is made in the town of Nokia which is the same town were Nokia’s history started in 1865, when engineer Fredrik Idestam established a wood-pulp mill in southern Finland and started manufacturing paper.

Below is a Nokia Kommodoori dark beer and a Nokia 3310 mobile phone. The Nokia Kommodoori has a dark brown color; a thinnish but smooth body; some chocolatey sweetness in the middle; and a toasty dryness in the finish. 100% Shiraz, with a thick, deep purple/red color. Coy with it’s aroma’s of dark berries, plums and dark chocolate. This wonderful wine offers complex layers of juicy dark berries & plum, spice, mint and cola. Wonderful mouth feel, velvety tannins. This is a nicely integrated wine, medium in body with a long finish of dark fruit & cola/chocolate. – The Wine Rack
